Yeah I had to go with no, **** you. The guy is amazing to watch pitch. He goes from 94 mph to 74 mph and its just not right. Bye bye Pettitte and Clemens!

in years one and two it will be a good deal. in years 4 and 5 it will probably be a kevin brown albatross.

Oswalt definately came out on the great end of this extension, averaging nearly $15 mil a year. But I agree with what was said above, I would have only offered that amount of money annually over 3 years, MAYBE 4 years max.

"They asked me if I wanted the ball in Game 6, and I said yes. I'll always say yes. That's what I did with Jack McKeon. I told him, 'Let me see how I feel tomorrow.' I went out, did a long toss, came in and said, 'I'll pitch, I want it, I want to do it.' And it ended up working out." -Josh Beckett

He will only be 34 when his contract ends. That's not exactly old. He is now hitting the prime and will continue to be good for the duration of his contract if he stays injury free of course.

If Roy Oswalt was a Yankee and he received the same amount from Steinbrenner, just about every non-Yankee fan would say the contract will be an albatross.

5 years is a hell of a lot for any pitcher. I would only go 4 max with an option for the 5th year which would make it more palatable.

Comparing oZewalt to a guy who goes to the DL cause he played with his kids. Awesome.

Second, I'd slap NYGF because he just seems to have it coming for him. I swear man you wouldn't last 5 minutes in California before you got your ass kicked. So I'd be doing him a service too. -hot corner gurl

Oswalt has a career 3.09 ERA and is only 29. Five years to keep him in a Astro uniform is not too much since Pettitte and Clemens are likely gone next year.

The Rocket is likely gone every year.

5 years guaranteed? what happens in the very likely event he gets injured? Pitchers arent known for staying healthy. How many greg maddux's or glavines are out there that pretty much stay healthy their entire careers?

But if that's what it takes to get one of the premier pitcvhers in the NL to stay and be your ace, you have to do it. Oswalt has never been seriously injured so why think that he will. Now you are a Cubs fan so I understand your concern but not everyone is Prior and Wood either. Nolan Ryan played how many years with out getting seriously hurt? Like I said he is coming into the prime of his career.
