The Diamondbacks have joined the Angels in pursuit of David Eckstein, FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal reports.
Arizona would use Eckstein at second base over Augie Ojeda and Chris Burke. Eckstein is pretty likely to be dealt before playoff rosters are locked on Sept. 1.
The Angels have been rumored for the past week to be looking at Eckstein to return to SS for them but now it looks like the Dbacks want him to play second. Eckstein was a key to that 2002 WS team for the Angels and the fans would love to see him back for one last run. I say one last time because I doubt the Angels would keep him past this year with his contract. It will be interesting to see where he goes.

2008 Giants > Padres

Pathetic Stat of the Year- Matt Cain has a 3.74 career ERA, but has won just 30 of his 104 starts.

Are the Dbacks Ken Rosenthal's new favorite team or what? He rips the Dodgers for not mortgaging Kemp and LaRoche (who was later traded for Manny) to get C.C. Sabathia, rips them for giving away a Single-A catcher for Casey Blake, and then proceeds to pant all over Adam Dunn's impact to the Dbacks even though they've been playing like shit with him until yesterday.

Counting down to: The end of Andruw Jones's contract with the Dodgers:

take him, he's pretty useless and right now I would put McDonald, Scutaro, Inglett, and even an injured Aaron Hill over Eckstein

The Angels have plenty of crappy shortstops who make less.

They could use a new rally monkey.

Second, I'd slap NYGF because he just seems to have it coming for him. I swear man you wouldn't last 5 minutes in California before you got your ass kicked. So I'd be doing him a service too. -hot corner gurl

Eckstein will get his 1 hit out of 4 at-bats, but Augie Ojeda already does that and his range at second base and arm strength is hella better.

They might as well start a crippled Orlando Hudson.

Eckstein will be good as always and everyone will continue to call him overrated when he isn;t even rated to start with. He has two rings and every team he plays on is good. Not a coincidence. Eck is a great guy to have in your lineup and will help the Dbacks at second. I wanted him to return to the Angels but now he is in the NL West. I think the Dbacks could use a WS MVP.
