    Padres Padres sign Brett Tomko

    No thread bumping here. Bombko is returning to San Diego AGAIN.

    SAN DIEGO -- Brett Tomko rejoined the San Diego Padres on Friday, six days after he was waived by the Kansas City Royals.

    To make room, left-handed reliever Justin Hampson was optioned to Triple-A Portland.

    This is Tomko's third stint with the Padres. He pitched for the Padres in 2002 and rejoined them for the stretch drive last year. He made a shaky start on the last day of the regular season, an 11-6 loss at Milwaukee. That forced San Diego to play a wild-card tiebreaker game at Colorado the next night, which the Rockies won in 13 innings to reach the playoffs.

    The 35-year-old was 2-7 with a 6.97 earned run average in 16 games with the Royals, including 10 starts. Opponents hit .314 off him. He signed a $3 million, one-year deal in January.

    As much as I don't like the move I have a hard time of being that critical.

    It's not like it's going to cost them a playoff apperance or anything

    Whatever, instead of Cha Sung Baek getting knocked around it'll be Tomko.

    Why would I say that? What I would say is SEASON SAVED!! This is not a good move for them. I am insulted by Zito's comment as I have never said anything close to that. Go **** yourself Zito!
