Darin Erstad will sign a one-year deal with the White Sox, MLB.com reports.
An option for 2008 is included. Erstad is set to battle Brian Anderson and Ryan Sweeney for the center field job this spring. He could also play some left if Scott Podsednik isn't going to be ready for the beginning of the season. Ideally, he'd be a fourth outfielder. However, there's a good chance he'll play over Anderson against right-handers until he gets hurt again.
"For someone who was never meant for this world, I must confess I'm suddenly having a hard time leaving it. Of course, they say every atom in our bodies was once part of a star. Maybe I'm not leaving... maybe I'm going home."
The White Sox finally get him seven years after the Angels' upper management (the Disney people) shot down a pending trade that would have sent Erstad to Chicago in exchange for Jon Garland and Chris Singleton. Erstad went on to have a career year for the Angels.
Yeah but he bounced back in 2006 and hit like, what 5. Come on, those are huge numbers!!! hahaha!!! I am bias, Pods is one of my fav. players in the game!!! You know an ex-Brewer and the wifey being a White Sox fan! Still kills me that I actually married a Sox fan!!! Oh well!
