I'm sure plenty of people here are delighted by this great news.

After leading the Twins to one of the more improbable comebacks in recent memory this season, Minnesota manager Ron Gardenhire received a two-year contract extension on Friday. The Associated Press reported that the contract runs through the 2009 season.

Why not? He's been one of the most successful managers in baseball the past 5 seasons. The Twins need stability in their front office and the field manager is a good place to start.
