I think Hermida needs to get back asap. He is one that has to get as many starts as possible as the future star of this organization. Its a shame to see that talent go to waste right now.

Anything is better than Reggie Abercrombie!

Pathetic Stat of the Year- Matt Cain has a 3.74 career ERA, but has won just 30 of his 104 starts.

Josh Johnson picked up his second win in as many starts by holding the Braves to just an unearned run in six innings of work on Wednesday.
Johnson limited the Braves to four hits and no walks while striking out four. He'll have to face the same lineup again on Monday, but Johnson is also scheduled to see the Devil Rays next week and is a solid play in NL-only formats

Sergio Mitre was removed from Friday's game due to shoulder discomfort.
If Mitre goes on the disabled list, the Marlins will likely put either Jason Vargas or Ricky Nolasco into the rotation

Jason Vargas was pounded for eight runs -- seven earned -- in 3 1/3 innings after relieving an injured Sergio Mitre in the first inning on Friday.
This will hurt his chances of moving back into the rotation should Mitre miss time with a sore shoulder. Vargas had allowed one run in 5 1/3 innings since joining the pen.

Brian Moehler yielded two runs and eight hits over 7 1/3 innings to defeat the Pirates on Sunday for his first win since July 20.
Pittburgh has now dropped behind Florida for the NL's worst record. Moehler had been 0-10 with an 8.27 ERA in 14 starts and eight relief appearances since his previous victory. He's not at all an option in NL-only leagues

Marlins optioned LHP Jason Vargas to Triple-A Albuquerque.
Vargas should get his command problems sorted out and return to the majors within the next one of two months. He's still one of the Marlins' top starting pitching prospects going forward.

Nic Ungs pitched a four-hit shutout Monday for Triple-A Albuquerque.
The 26-year-old Ungs has little chance of being a long-term member of the Florida rotation, but he'd be a better stopgap that Brian Moehler right now and he could fit in as a middle reliever down the line. He's 5-2 with a 2.59 ERA in eight starts for Albuquerque.

An MRI on Hanley Ramirez's left shoulder showed a strain. The Marlins continue to call him day-to-day.
Ramirez said that he felt the shoulder pop out and then back in during a swing on Tuesday night. Robert Andino was called up Wednesday to fill in at shortstop.

Logan Kensing had a chance to close against the Braves on Wednesday, but after pitching a scoreless eighth, he gave up the tying run in the ninth.
Joe Borowski appeared set to get the night off after throwing 1 1/3 innings on Tuesday, but he was brought in after Kensing and worked a scoreless 10th. Kensing has allowed four runs in six innings since being called up last week. Manager Joe Girardi seems to like him a lot, but he's not much of a sleeper for saves just yet.

Scott Olsen was rocked for eight runs in just 4 2/3 innings of work versus the Braves on Thursday.
Olsen struck out seven and walked just two, but eight hits, including a pair of homers, led to the left-hander's demise today. Olsen has yet to string two quality starts together this season, but he has flashed the potential that made him a sleeper in NL-only leagues this off-season. He'll have an easier time with the Cubs next time out, so feel free to stick with him in deeper leagues.

he Marlins reportedly expect to have Hanley Ramirez (shoulder) back in the lineup by Monday.
Ramirez took batting practice Friday and will likely push Robert Andino back to Triple-A when he returns

Logan Kensing was given a save opportunity against the Devil Rays on Saturday but blew a one-run lead when he surrendered a two-run homer to Russell Branyan.
Closer Joe Borowski had pitched in three of the last four days, taking a loss and a blown save in the process, so Kensing was given a chance tonight. There are relievers on the team more deserving of future opportunities, and Kensing isn't a good bet to have much value in NL-only leagues. However, the choice does show that manager Joe Girardi may be quick to look for new options if his current closer continues to struggle. In the meantime, Borowski remains the heavy favorite for saves.
