Marlins manager Joe Girardi said Jeremy Hermida (hip) wouldn't be activated from the disabled list this weekend.
Hermida could go on a rehab assignement and return Monday.

Alfredo Amezaga made his first ever start in the outfield Wednesday and went 0-for-5 as the Marlins' No. 2 hitter.
Instead of going back to Eric Reed, manager Joe Girardo played Amezaga over Reggie Abercrombie in center field today. Reed now has one at-bat in 11 days. Amezaga doesn't have fantasy value.

Scott Olsen surrendered three runs -- two earned -- in five innings versus the Cubs on Wednesday.
Olsen gave up just one hit, a solo homer to Aramis Ramirez, but also walked three and hit a batter while striking out just two. Owners will be impressed with his 2.12 ERA through three starts, but he's also allowed three unearned runs and sports an 11/9 K/BB ratio. Those in NL-only leagues will have to stick with him, but Olsen gets the Phillies and Cardinals next week and he shouldn't be used in any mixed leagues despite the two starts
Miguel Cabrera singled, tripled, and walked twice to score two runs in the Marlins' 7-5 victory over the Cubs on Wednesday.
Cabrera has already walked 13 times in 19 games after recording 64 free passes in 158 games last season. If he keeps up this rate and plays in as many games as he did in 2005 he'd walk 108 times. With two rookies hitting behind him, opposing teams will be more careful with Cabrera this season.

Jeremy Hermida's return has been pushed back again. Now he won't be activated until May 5 at the earliest.
He might go on a brief rehab assignment on May 3-4. Hermida has been out since April 12 with a hip flexor strain that originally had him listed as day-to-day

Brian Moehler, moved up in the rotation because of Sergio Mitre's toe injury, allowed two runs in six innings against the Rockies on Friday night.
Moehler entered with a 13.14 ERA in three starts. This will help him remain in the rotation, but he has no fantasy value

Reggie Abercrombie went 0-for-3 and dropped a routine flyball in center field before being removed for a pinch-hitter on Friday.
Since there was a runner on first, the misplay wasn't costly, as Abercrombie was able to throw to second for the force. Still, it's defense that's been helping to keep Abercrombie in the lineup. His OPS is back under 500 after tonight. The Marlins need to find a different solution in center and send both Abercrombie and Eric Reed back to the minors

Jeremy Hermida, on the 15-day DL with a right hip flexor, will play in games Monday and Tuesday at Single-A Jupiter and rejoin the Marlins on Wednesday.
Whether he'll be activated right away might depend on his performance. Matt Cepicky could be sent down to make room for Hermida

Josh Johnson will replace Jason Vargas in Florida's rotation and start Thursday against the Nationals.
Johnson is 1-2 with a 3.86 ERA in seven relief appearances. We think he's more intriguing in NL-only leagues as a reliever, but he is a candidate to have a little value as a starter. If you've been using him anyway, keep him active for his start against the Nationals.

Jason Stokes left Monday's game at Triple-A Albuquerque with a left groin injury.
Stokes, who could become a candidate to take over at first base for the Marlins if Mike Jacobs continues to struggle, is batting .309/.387/.556 in 81 at-bats

Marlins claimed outfielder Joe Borchard off waivers from the Mariners.
Nothing to lose. Borchard isn't going to be a long-term option in center field for the Marlins, but he's an upgrade over Reggie Abercrombie and Eric Reed for now. We're guessing that Borchard and Abercrombie will share time, with Reed getting sent back to the minors when Jeremy Hermida comes off the DL. NL-only leaguers in need of power should look to add him

Reggie Abercrombie hit his second homer of the season Wednesday against the Nationals.
Abercrombie is 4-for-10 with five RBI in the last three games. A well-timed hot streak would be big for him with Joe Borchard joining the team. Abercrombie should stick around, but he might end up in a reserve role if Borchard outproduces him.

Sergio Mitre was roughed up by the Cardinals on Friday night, surrendering seven runs -- six earned -- and 11 hits in 4 1/3 innings.
It's the first time all year that Mitre hasn't given the Marlins a decent effort, though he has just a 1-4 record to show for it. He's not in any danger at all of losing his rotation spot

Single-A Jupiter's Grant Psomas went 4-for-4 with two doubles and a walk on Friday.
Psomas, the third player the Marlins received along with Yusmeiro Petit and Mike Jacobs in the Carlos Delgado trade, is batting .343/.407/.520 in 102 at-bats. He is 23, so he'll need to spend at least the final two or three months of the season in Double-A. However, it's possible that he'll develop into a regular third baseman.
