Scott Olsen fanned 11 while holding the Pirates to an unearned run in 6 2/3 innings in a win on Friday night.
Marlins pitches fanned 15 in all, including Craig Wilson three times. Amazingly, Jose Hernandez, who started at frist base, only K'd once. Olsen struck out six in a row at one point and topped his career high for strikeouts by two. The win was his second in six starts

Dan Uggla hit a solo homer in the third inning and later delivered a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth against the Pirates.
The Pirates tied the game at 4-4 in the top of the ninth inning, but Alfredo Amezaga's walk and a sacrifice by Hanley Ramirez quickly got the Marlins threatening in the bottom of the inning. Uggla then singled to right off closer Mike Gonzalez to give the Marlins the victory. The second basemen is batting .299 with 14 homers and 54 RBI.

Anibal Sanchez limited the Braves to one run in seven innings of work tonight to pick up the victory in a 2-1 Marlins' win.
Sanchez didn't walk a batter and struck out three while yielding seven hits. He wasn't brought back out for the eighth despite totaling just 73 pitches through seven, but the Taylor Tankersley and Joe Borowski did a fine job protecting the one-run lead. Sanchez hasn't pitched as well as his 3.00 ERA indicates, but he's still okay to use against the Phillies next time out.

**** him.

Scott Olsen blanked the Braves for six innings on Thursday to improve to 9-4.
Olsen allowed two hits, walked two and struck out five while throwing 97 pitches. He also helped himself with two hits and an RBI, though his run-scoring single in the sixth easily could have been ruled an error on Edgar Renteria. Olsen has now won three straight starts. It hasn't always been pretty, but he's gone 11 straight starts without giving up more than three runs

Gaby Sanchez went 2-for-3 with a double and a walk Thursday in his debut for Single-A Brevard County.
Sanchez was batting .317/.447/.603 in 189 at-bats for low Single-A Greensboro before suffering a broken hand in early June. Instead or returning him to the South Atlantic League, the Marlins promoted him to the FSL following a few rehab games with the Rookie GCL Marlins

Matt Treanor, who has been out since early August with a shoulder strain, is expected to be activated from the disabled list on Wednesday.
Treanor will resume his role as Miguel Olivo's backup and Paul Hoover will be returned to Triple-A Albuquerque.

Scott Olsen struggled against the Braves tonight, recording just five outs while putting eight runners on base and allowing five of them to score.
Olsen walked four while giving up a single, double, triple, and homer in the abbreviated outing. He departed with runners on first and third with two outs, so that reliever Brian Moehler was able to retire Andruw Jones prevented an even worse outing. Olsen pitched poorly against the Diamondbacks last time out as well, but we wouldn't bench him versus the Nationals next week.

Dontrelle Willis held the Braves to three runs -- two earned -- in seven innings of work on Sunday as the Marlins recorded a 4-3 victory.
Watch out world, the Marlins are just six games out in the wild card race. Even if the club doesn't turn a solid season into a playoff berth, the few fans the team has can be excited by the quick progress made after gutting the team this past off-season. The win for Willis was his second in his last eight starts and first in four outings against the Braves this year.

Wes Helms' three-bagger on Sunday made him the first major leaguer with three pinch-hit triples in a season since Houston's Casey Candaele in 1990.
They don't miss Lenny Harris in Florida. Helms has been a terrific pinch-hitter for the Marlins this season. He's .353 with nine RBI in 34 at-bats in those situations.

Hanley Ramirez was 2-for-5 with a home run, a pair of RBI and a steal to help Florida down the Nationals 7-5 on Tuesday.
Ramirez hit his fifth leadoff home run and added an RBI single in the fifth as he raised his average to .271. He also reached 40 steals and 40 RBI for the season and has enjoyed an excellent rookie campaign.
