ORIOLES 2, MARLINS 2 in 10 innings
at Jupiter, Fla.
Wednesday, March 7

Marlins at the plate: The Marlins rallied in the ninth inning and forced extra innings on John Gall's RBI single. Joe Borchard and Nick Trzesniak each singled to open the inning, and Borchard scored on Gall's hit. Josh Willingham had two singles, including an RBI liner to left in the eighth inning. Willingham had the lone hit, a single, off Erik Bedard. In the fourth inning, Miguel Cabrera ripped a triple to right-center off Hayden Penn. Cabrera went 2-for-4, adding a double.

Orioles at the plate: Miguel Tejada's RBI single in the seventh inning gave Baltimore a 1-0 lead. Melvin Mora singled and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Mora scored on Tejada's hit. Roger Cedeno's RBI single in the eighth inning padded the lead. Kevin Millar fouled a ball of his left instep and is day-to-day.

Marlins on the mound: Extremely efficient, Dontrelle Willis breezed through three scoreless innings, giving up one hit, while striking out three. The D-Train threw 46 pitches, with 29 strikes, remaining on course to be the Opening Day starter. Randy Messenger tossed two innings.

Orioles on the mound: Bedard was brilliant once again, allowing one hit and striking out four in three innings. In his second straight start against the Marlins, the lefty threw 28 pitches with 21 strikes. The first meeting, he tossed two perfect innings, with 16 of his 20 pitches for strikes. Penn worked out of a jam in the fourth inning, stranding the bases loaded. It was Penn's first action since he sprained his left ankle a week ago. John Parrish allowed a run in the eighth inning, but left a man on second.

Grapefruit League records: Marlins 1-6-1; Orioles 4-1-2.

Up next: The Marlins travel to Vero Beach on Thursday to take on the Dodgers at 7:05 p.m. ET. Anibal Sanchez gets the start for Florida, while the Dodgers are going with Eric Stults. The Orioles travel to Port St. Lucie to face the Mets at 1:10 p.m. Daniel Cabrera makes his second spring start, while the Mets are going with Orlando Hernandez.

"For someone who was never meant for this world, I must confess I'm suddenly having a hard time leaving it. Of course, they say every atom in our bodies was once part of a star. Maybe I'm not leaving... maybe I'm going home."
