Sicko

Sicko opens with a few tales of individual Americans' medical woes due to the way the system works in the US, but builds up into something a lot more meaningful and collective.

Comparing the way medical insurance works in the US to the socialised (or state) healthcare of Canada, the UK, France and Cuba, Moore makes excellent points as to why the US sits so low in Western medical standings.

Due to medical insurance being run by private companies, they're after one thing: profit. The comparison of people hired by these companies in the US to deny people healthcare they need in the US, to doctors who get bonuses for helping, curing and saving more people in the UK is starling too.

But, my review is about the film, not the American healthcare system.

I used to be a big fan of Michael Moore, then it dropped as I grew up a little, but I still like his work. He manages to put things together to make the entire film both funny and then deeply saddening at some peoples' positions. He may put a little spin on his stance, but tell me what politican or documentary-maker doesn't? It's a well put together movie, with more good points made from the director.

I was forced to watch this. It was surprisingly interesting.
