Jones hasn't pitched since Aug. 15 because of a sore shoulder. The 40-year-old right-hander ends 2008 with a 4.97 ERA, but he still converted 18 of his 21 save chances. He picked up 319 saves in all during his 16 years, ranking him 14th all-time. After saving a total of three games in a three-year span from 2002-04, he reemerged with the best year of his career with the Marlins in 2005 (2.10 ERA, 40 saves). 42 percent of his lifetime saves (133 total) came after he turned 37.
That's an astonishing stat at the end there. Jones retires with a 3.97 ERA. He was a one time All Star and finished in the top five in Cy Young voting that same year. 14th all-time in Saves isn't bad at all so congrats to Jones and his mustache.

2008 Giants > Padres

Pathetic Stat of the Year- Matt Cain has a 3.74 career ERA, but has won just 30 of his 104 starts.
