Justin Verlander won his fifth straight decision Sunday, holding the Twins to a pair of runs over seven innings.
Once 1-7 with a 6.05 ERA, Verlander has gone 6-2 with a 2.71 ERA and 63/27 K/BB ratio in 73 innings since. His velocity is back to normal and Verlander has allowed more than three runs in just one of his last dozen outings, setting him up for a fantastic second half.
Verlander looked awful in the first month as did the entire Detroit Tigers. Now he is dominating the strike zone and pitching like the CY contender he is. He is now 7-9 with a 4.15 ERA and got a big win against the Twins today. Its not a coincidence that when he got hot, the Tigers did to,

2008 Giants > Padres

Pathetic Stat of the Year- Matt Cain has a 3.74 career ERA, but has won just 30 of his 104 starts.
