My thoughts on: Paul Byrd

What's going on with Paul Byrd? Last year he was the crafty vet. In his two starts this year he just looks bad. Maybe the HGH did help his pitching in some way. It's just night and day when you compare the Byrd of last year with the Byrd of this year.

Maybe it's the way Shoppach, his personal catcher, is calling the game. Maybe Byrd just can't locate his pitches.

I know one thing, if Byrd doesn't shape up he'll find himself in the minors or without a job. He might not be getting Shoppach catching his games if he doesn't get better because we'll need the bat of Victor Martinez to go along with Sizemore, Hafner, and Garko. And we can't have all four with Shoppach catching.
