Indians' Offer To Sabathia

The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that the Indians offered C.C. Sabathia a four-year contract extension in December that was worth between $68 and $72 million in new money. The deal would have been added to the $11.25 million that Sabathia is set to make in 2008, keeping him in Cleveland through 2012, but it's highly unlikely that he'll agree to that level of commitment following Johan Santana's recent six-year, $137.5 million extension with the Mets.

Indians should try and add on another year with an option worth a shit load of money. The Indians are going to need a happy Sabathia this season if they hope to compete with the Tigers.
