Betancourt Signs New Deal

Rafael Betancourt is guaranteed $5.4 million under the terms of his deal with the Indians. Betancourt, who asked for $2.5 million and was offered $1.75 million in arbitration, will make $2.05 million this season and $3.35 million in 2009. The club option for 2010, which would buy out his first year of free agency, is worth $5 million.

Great deal for one of the game's best set up men. Indians haven't done much this offseason but they didn't really have a lot of holes.

I am very happy with this. It's great to have him locked up for up to three more years. Not a more reliable set-up man in the game, IMHO.
