Per MLBTradeRumors.com:

According to Dennis Manoloff, the Indians are close to acquiring outfielder Kenny Lofton. I've heard that the Rangers will receive catcher Max Ramirez, who the Indians got for Bob Wickman last year.
For a guy who is 40, Lofton has had some pretty solid years when you consider old guy baseball. While his power resurgence is due to playing in the Smallpark At Arlington, he has remained a good contact hitter like you would expect from him. Not to mention his stolen base to caught stealing ratio is a very respectable 20-4, just adding to his value. But why would this deal be solid for the Tribe, it all comes down to splits:

Lofton vs RHP:
.325 BA, .401 OBP, .486 SLG%, .887 OPS
13 of his 16 doubles, and all three triples and all 7 homers have come from this side of the plate.

Now we have Nixon vs RHP:
.249 BA, .347 OBP, .345 SLG%, .692 OPS

And Franklin Gutiérrez who has a much smaller sampler, but he hasn't been much better versus RHP (kills LHP though.):
.245 BA, .345 OBP, .453 SLG%, .758 OPS

Now they are both about just as bad versus lefties, but Lofton will bring speed and a lot more contact then Nixon has brought.
